The term "Beehive
State" may be the most fitting it has ever been in Utah. We currently have
1.41 million workers within the state, thanks to a strong economy. Our
unemployment rate dropped a tenth of a percentage point to 3.9% which means
there were, for the month of July, 58,600 unemployed workers who were actively
seeking jobs. For Utah, 43,800 jobs were added to the economy in July, which
represents a 3.2% increase in growth to the state's economy.
The national unemployment rate held steady from June to July at 4.9%.
Furthermore (and also not surprising) the fastest employment
growth occurred in construction, up 7.3 percent, adding 6,400 jobs for the
month of July. So, if you're still waiting to start or revive your career in
construction, there may never be a better time than now. UTCLC has all the
tools you need to help you succeed. We offer test prep, continuing education,

“Strong job growth continues throughout many parts of the state,” said Carrie
Mayne, Department of Workforce Services chief economist. “Opportunities abound
for job-seekers to find gainful employment in a wide range of career fields.”
