For the past two years, Utah has consistently boasted unemployment numbers below 4%.
"That's a significant mark to indicate that our economy is hot right now," said Carrie Mayne, Chief Economist with Workforce Services.
According to a new report by Fox13 News, those record numbers also mean worker shortages. There are plenty of jobs, but not enough people to fill them. Some places are seeing employees working 10- or 12- hour shifts on a regular basis. With construction projects like the expansion of Fashion Place Mall, the I-15 project at Thanksgiving Point, and ongoing revitalization of downtown Salt Lake City, construction jobs alone are plentiful across the state.
Mayne says approximately 10,000 new business opened their doors in 2014, meaning that Utah is a great place for opportunity.
