Start Seeing Orange
The snow is melting and spring is here, which means the orange construction zone barrels are popping up all over the state of Utah. Whether you're driving through a small town like Heber or traversing a major thoroughfare like Point of the Mountain, chances are you're going to see some orange.
This week marks National Work Zone Safety Week and UDOT wants to remind all drivers to slow down and pay attention to keep construction workers safe. Many workers know all too well that drivers often (and usually) ignore the reduced speed limits; additionally, many drivers are distracted - whether using their cell phones or simply fiddling with the radio. "It's scary. It's really scary. I mean, you can tell [cars are] moving, and you can feel the force," said Reggie Schlieper, UDOT Survey Manager for The Point Project.
UDOT currently has 150 projects taking place across the state that together require thousands of workers. Their message, as part of National Work Zone Safety Week, is that they have families too.
UTCLC wants to remind everyone to slow down in construction zones - in other words, start seeing orange. Let's keep all of Utah's road construction workers safe.
