The National Home Builders
Association recently commissioned a poll in which more than 2800 registered
voters were surveyed. The purpose of the poll was to to gauge public sentiment
on the value of home ownership and government programs that encourage home
ownership and housing production.
“The survey shows that most Americans believe that owning a home remains an
integral part of the American Dream and that policymakers need to take active
steps to encourage and protect home ownership,” said NAHB Chairman Ed Brady.
Here the results by the numbers:
- 82% of those surveyed believe that owning a home is a good investment - even better than stocks or bonds
- 81% of 18-29 year-olds want to own a home
- 64% are in favor of tax incentives, such as the mortgage rate deduction, to incentivize buyers
- 46% say that they believe now is a good time to buy a home
- 36% of those polled plan to buy a home in the next three years
As the economy continues to gain strength, more and more people are looking to buy homes - and they consider it an excellent investment. Workers of all trades are in high demand.
