31,000 Construction Jobs Added in October
Posted on November 19th, 2015

Signs are looking good for the construction industry. According to AGC's monthly jobs report, 31,000 construction jobs were filled or created last month and unemployment declined to 6.2%. In Utah, the unemployment numbers remain well under 4%.

“The industry continues to recover while the hiring slowdowns it experienced during the summer were prompted more by labor shortages than they were any slump in demand,” said Ken Simonson, the association's chief economist. “Construction firms appear to have had an easier time finding workers in October than they did during the summer.”

Perhaps most impressive is that construction jobs topped 6.4 million last month, up by 233,000 jobs over October of 2014.

Simonson said that increase in numbers may indicate that more people are entering the construction labor market as firms focus on recruiting and boost compensation levels. AGC did caution that worker numbers might still remain tight as firms struggle to find qualified workers to fill the available positions.

This is yet another reason to either obtain, renew, or keep your license up to date. Be sure to give UTCLC a call today to find out how.
